در دل جنگلی سبز و پر از آواز پرندهها، آهویی چابک به نام آریس زندگی میکرد. آریس سریعترین دوندهی جنگل بود و به خودش میبالید. هر وقت حیوانی را میدید، میگفت:
– هیچکس به پای من نمیرسه!
روزی لاکپشتی آرام به نام کاوی وارد جنگل شد. او تازه به آنجا آمده بود و دوستان زیادی نداشت. آریس که او را دید، با خنده گفت:
– تو که با اون پاهای کوچولوت نمیتونی حتی از زیر برگ درخت هم رد شی!
حیوانات دیگر ساکت شدند. کاوی آرام گفت:
– شاید من کند باشم، ولی صبر و پشتکار دارم. حاضرم باهات مسابقه بدم!
همه با تعجب به لاکپشت نگاه کردند. آریس قاهقاه خندید و گفت:
– باشه! فردا صبح، از کنار رودخانه تا تپهی بلند مسابقه میدیم. اما بهتره آمادهی باخت باشی!
صبح روز بعد، همهی حیوانات جمع شدند. جوجهتیغی، خرگوش، جغد و حتی خرس بزرگ آمده بودند تا مسابقه را ببینند.
جغد پیر گفت:
– شروع کنید!
آریس مثل باد دوید و جلو افتاد. اما چون مطمئن بود میبرد، کمی بعد زیر یک درخت نشست و گفت:
– یه کم استراحت میکنم. لاکپشت که تا شبم نمیرسه!
در همین حال، کاوی آرام و با تمرکز قدم برمیداشت. نفسنفس میزد اما متوقف نمیشد. حیوانات او را تشویق میکردند.
آریس در خواب عمیقی فرو رفت. وقتی بیدار شد، خورشید داشت غروب میکرد! با وحشت دوید، اما دید که کاوی درست در حال رسیدن به تپهی بلند است!
حیوانات با شادی فریاد زدند:
– کاوی برنده شد!
آریس نفسنفس زنان رسید و با شرمندگی گفت:
– تو با پشتکارت برنده شدی. من اشتباه کردم که دست کم گرفتمت.
کاوی لبخند زد و گفت:
– مهم نیست چهقدر سریع میدویم، مهم اینه که ادامه بدیم و تسلیم نشیم.
از آن روز به بعد، آریس فروتنتر شد و کاوی یکی از محبوبترین حیوانات جنگل شد.
In a lush, green forest full of singing birds, there lived a swift deer named Aris. Aris was the fastest runner in the forest and very proud of it. Whenever he saw other animals, he would boast,
– No one can beat me in a race!
One day, a calm turtle named Kavi moved into the forest. He didn’t have many friends yet. When Aris saw him, he laughed and said,
– With those tiny legs, you can’t even cross a leaf!
All the animals went quiet. Kavi gently replied,
– I may be slow, but I have patience and perseverance. I challenge you to a race!
Everyone stared at Kavi in surprise. Aris laughed loudly and said,
– Fine! Tomorrow morning, from the riverbank to the big hill. But get ready to lose!
The next morning, the forest was buzzing. All the animals came to watch — the hedgehog, the rabbit, the owl, even the big bear.
The old owl hooted,
– Let the race begin!
Aris dashed like the wind and quickly took the lead. Confident he would win, he stopped under a tree.
– I’ll take a little nap. That turtle won’t reach here until night!
Meanwhile, Kavi kept walking slowly but steadily. He was tired but never stopped. The animals cheered him on.
Aris fell into a deep sleep. When he finally woke up, the sun was setting! He panicked and ran, only to see Kavi reaching the top of the hill!
The animals cheered,
– Kavi wins!
Breathing heavily, Aris arrived and said,
– You won with your determination. I was wrong to underestimate you.
Kavi smiled and said,
– It’s not about how fast we go. It’s about not giving up and moving forward.
From that day on, Aris became humbler, and Kavi became one of the most respected animals in the forest.
